2nd Chapter of the Series: Spiritual Innocence: Rediscovering the Purity of the Soul through a Biblical Lens
My YouTube channel
Welcome to the second chapter of our series on *Spiritual Innocence*. In the first chapter, we explored the concept of Spiritual Innocence, the difference between childhood and spiritual innocence, and how adulthood can distance us from this divine essence. Today we will delve even deeper into this topic, addressing the *obstacles* that prevent us from experiencing this inner purity—all illuminated by the stories and wisdom of biblical characters who faced challenges similar to ours.
What prevents us from being truly free? Why do we accumulate judgments, fears, and limiting beliefs? And how can we overcome these obstacles to reconnect with our *Spiritual Innocence*, just like Adam and Eve before the Fall? This is the focus of our meeting today.
Prepare for a journey of deep reflection, where we'll explore topics such as the role of ego (like David when he faced Goliath), the weight of judgment (like Jonah when he fled God's call), and the power of self-compassion (like the prodigal son who found forgiveness in his father's home). If you notice something that is hindering or trying to hinder you from being fully free, Tell us and we'll pray for you. Leave your prayer request in the comments of this video: https://youtu.be/McSnPSYt908
If you're looking to understand how to overcome the challenges that block your spiritual connection, how to deal with fear (like Abraham when he was willing to sacrifice Isaac), or how to cultivate a transformative way (like Moses leading the people through the desert), this video is for you.

Obstacles to Spiritual Innocence
Spiritual Innocence is a natural quality of the soul, but it's often obscured by layers of conditioning, traumatic experiences, and negative mental patterns. Let's identify some of the main obstacles that prevent us from accessing this pure essence, inspired by biblical stories:
1. Judgment: The habit of judging ourselves and others creates emotional barriers. When we live with a mindset of right or wrong, we lose the ability to see the world through eyes of love and compassion. Remember what Jesus said: "Judge not, that you be not judged" (Matthew 7:1). Just as Peter learned to love again after his denial, we need to let go of judgment to rediscover ourselves.
2. Fear: Fear is a One of the greatest forces that distances us from our spiritual nature. It paralyzes us, makes us doubt our gifts, and prevents us from trusting the flow of life. Think of Abraham, who faced fear before God's promise and chose faith: "Against hope, he believed in hope" (Romans 4:18).
3. Ego: The ego is necessary for our survival, but it can also become an obstacle when it dominates our decisions. It leads us to seek external validation, fuel competition, and disconnect from the divine. Reflect on Solomon, GOD is above your own selfish desires (1 Kings 3:9-10).
4. Emotional Burden: Old hurts, unresolved traumas, and repressed feelings create an emotional burden that keeps us from inner peace. Like Joseph, who forgave his brothers even after years of suffering, we need to learn to release the weight of the past to restore our connection with GOD (Genesis 50:19-21).
Understanding these obstacles is the first step to overcoming them. They are not enemies; they are simply signs that we need to work on our inner transformation.

How to Overcome Judgment and Fear
Judgment and fear are two of the most common obstacles we face on our spiritual journey. But how can we overcome them? Here are some effective practices, illuminated by biblical wisdom:
1. Practice Non-Judgmental Observation: Whenever you catch yourself judging something or someone, pause. Ask yourself, "Why am I doing this? What does this judgment reveal about me?" This helps deconstruct automatic thought patterns. Remember Nathanael, who initially judged Philip and Jesus, but was invited to see beyond his preconceptions (John 1:46-49).
2. Confront Your Fear with Curiosity: Instead of running away from fear, face it with curiosity. Ask yourself, "What can I learn from this? How did this fear protect me in the past, but is no longer useful?" Take inspiration from Rahab, who faced her fear to help the Israelite spies and was rewarded with safety and blessings (Joshua 2:1-21).
3. Cultivate Self-Compassion: We are often our own worst critics. Practicing self-compassion involves treating yourself with kindness and understanding, especially in times of difficulty. Remember the apostle Paul, who wrote about his weakness and received the promise, "My grace is sufficient for you" (2 Corinthians 12:9).
4. Use Positive Affirmations: Repeat phrases like "I am worthy of love," "I trust in the flow of life," or "I release all judgment." These affirmations help reprogram your mind, just as Mary proclaimed, "My soul glorifies the Lord" (Luke 1:46).
Remember: overcoming judgment and fear isn't something that happens overnight. It's an ongoing process of self-discovery and emotional liberation.
The Role of the Ego in Spirituality
The ego is often seen as an enemy on the spiritual journey, but it doesn't have to be. In fact, the ego can be an ally if we know how to work with it.
The ego is responsible for our individual identity—it helps us navigate the physical world. However, when the ego becomes overly controlling, it distances us from our spiritual essence. It leads us to seek external approval, compare ourselves to others, and cling to illusions of superiority or inferiority. Reflect on Saul, whose ego led him to jealousy and persecution of David, distancing him from the presence of God (1 Samuel 18:6-9).
To balance the ego, we need to practice *detachment*. This means recognizing that our true identity goes beyond the ego. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.
Here are some practices for balancing the ego:
1. Meditation: Silent meditation helps calm the mind and connect with your divine essence. Like Elijah, who encountered God in the stillness of a whisper (1 Kings 19:12), we need to seek moments of stillness.
2. Serving Others: When we focus on helping others, we transcend the ego and experience unity with the universe. Remember Stephen, who served with love to the end (Acts 7:55-60).
3. Accepting Imperfection: Accepting that we are imperfect and constantly evolving is a powerful way to lessen the ego's control. Just like Job, who faced tribulations and still declared, "I once knew You by the hearing of the ear, but now my eye sees You" (Job 42:5).
Inner Transformation and Emotional Liberation
Inner transformation begins when we decide to face our obstacles with courage and love. Freeing yourself emotionally is a process that requires patience, but the results are transformative.
Here are some steps to promote this liberation:
1. Identify Your Limiting Beliefs: What beliefs are holding you back? Write them down and question their validity. Reflect on Gideon, who believed himself unworthy until God called him to lead Israel (Judges 6:15).
2. Release the Past: Practice forgiveness—both for others and for yourself. Release old hurts and allow yourself to move forward. Like Joseph, who said to his brothers, "You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good" (Genesis 50:20).
3. Celebrate Small Victories: Every step you take toward your transformation deserves to be celebrated. This strengthens your inner self in a positive way. Remember Ruth, who celebrated small acts of kindness until she received her inheritance (Ruth 2:10-13).
Conclusion
We've reached the end of this second chapter of the series. I hope it touched your heart and inspired you to face your obstacles with courage and love.
*Spiritual Innocence* isn't something we lose forever; it's always there, waiting to be rediscovered. By overcoming judgment, fear, and the control of the ego, we begin to reaccess this inner purity, just like the great biblical characters who showed us the way.
