Four excuses to avoid
My YouTube channel
What is an excuse? It is a justification, a reason, or, an alleged reason, a request for forgiveness for something committed.
The worker makes excuses to avoid the King's work.
Let's see four excuses that a true worker should never make. There are many workers who avoid or postpone the work of GOD in their lives. Excuses based on your fear, or, insecurity. Can this be overcome? Yes, we will see in the Holy Word of GOD. Let's look at the most common excuses.
1. First excuse
I can't give answers to every question asked. Exodus 3:13
13 And Moses said unto GOD, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, The GOD of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they ask me: What is your name? What will I tell them?
1 Peter 3:15
Rather, sanctify in your hearts CHRIST as LORD; and always be prepared to respond with meekness and fear to everyone who asks you for the reason for the hope that is in you.
This excuse is often used to avoid preaching the Word, saying that someone will ask you something and you won't know how to answer and you will be embarrassed. Don't worry, GOD doesn't care about your, or my, perfection. Moses also hesitated when called by GOD at the burning bush, asking GOD how he would answer the questions of those people. GOD's answer is simple. Trust Me. You will give right answers, because HE will put the words in your mouth. You are a worker, so you need to always remember 1 Peter who says: “But sanctify in your hearts CHRIST as LORD; and always be prepared to respond with meekness and fear to everyone who asks you to give a reason for the hope that is in you.” Our hope must be shared with gentleness and fear.
2. Second excuse
They may not respect me. They may not believe me, they may even think that I'm really lying. Exodus 4:1 says, “Then Moses answered, But, behold, they will not believe me, nor hearken to my voice, for they will say, The LORD has not appeared to you.” Romans 1:16 “For I am not ashamed of the Gospel, for it is the power of GOD for salvation to everyone who believes; first of the Jew, and also of the Greek.” 1 Peter 4:11 “If anyone speaks, let him speak as delivering oracles from GOD; if anyone ministers, let him minister according to the strength that God grants; so that in everything GOD may be glorified through JESUS CHRIST, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen." This is another fear, the fear of not being believed when we share the message of CHRIST. Moses also doubted when he said: They will not believe me. Do not forget that GOD himself gives equipment and authority to those he calls. We should not fear anyone's judgment. As the Apostle Paul said in the text cited above, let us not be ashamed of the Gospel, as it is the power of GOD for salvation.
3. Third excuse
Look, I don't have the skills for this, I'm not a good speaker and so on and so on, the negative words, all with the aim of escaping the responsibility that GOD has placed on our shoulders. Exodus 4:1 “Then Moses said to the LORD, Ah, LORD! I am not eloquent, nor was I before, nor since you spoke to your servant; for I am heavy of mouth and heavy of tongue.” Some scholars say that he, Moses, had difficulty speaking in public, others say that he stuttered. The important thing here is that he put an impediment to his call. Have you been doing the same? How many times have we felt like this, without skills for the service of GOD. Moses thought so too. Know, however, and never forget, that GOD empowers us. Are we called? So we are empowered by HIM. Can we believe? Look at what Acts 7:22 says “So Moses was instructed in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and he was mighty in word and deed.” To speak to Pharaoh in the knowledge of Egyptian wisdom that was based on deciphering dreams, astrology, medicine, mathematics and doctrines about religion. We don't see this in other books of the Bible. I believe that Moses did not feel able to speak in public, because it was something new, like this experience of having known and heard the voice of GOD himself and his concern, I believe, was about how the people would react when telling his experience, if the people I would believe your words.
4. Fourth excuse
I'm not as prepared as others. Ask brother so and so to do it in my place, he is more capable. Mercy Lord! When we compare ourselves to other people, we tend to feel inadequate. Moses felt this way too. If GOD chose you, then go, because HE only chooses those who are humble of heart, who recognize their smallness before HIM, but HE wants His heart to be happy with their willingness to obey HIM. If you were called by the ALMIGHTY, move forward and know that HE saw these qualities in you, don't disappoint HIM!
