Maintain Discipline for Success

What is discipline? But first let’s read Psalm 42:2a “My soul thirsts for GOD, for the Living GOD.”
Discipline is: obedience to the set of rules and norms that are established by a certain group. It can also refer to the fulfillment of each person's specific responsibilities. So, what is the concept of discipline? It is the capacity that can be developed by any human being, through the practice of a certain action in an organized and persevering way, in order to obtain a specific good or end.
An American man named John Woolman, a tailor, preacher, journalist who fought tirelessly for the abolitionist cause, said the following phrase: “It is good for you to dwell in the depths so that you can feel and understand the spirit of the people.” What does this phrase have to do with discipline? The highlighted word here is “DEPTH”. I will use it in the plural, depths. If you want to live a disciplined life in any area of your life, go deep into that desire.
If you want to be a good man, invest in your character. If you want to stay healthy, stick to an exercise routine and a balanced diet. You want to achieve high goals in the company you work for, stay focused and gain the trust of your superiors.
Here we will focus on spiritual discipline. You might say: it's something difficult, no, it's not difficult. You don't need to take a Theology course for this. You have just met JESUS, HE has entered your heart, you are now a saved person, you can begin to practice spiritual, devotional discipline. The requirement here is to have a longing for GOD. Repeating the text above, “My soul thirsts for GOD, for the GOD
Alive." So don't you have a deep desire to descend to the depths and get out of this superficial life? A mediocre life, being able to go deeper into the knowledge of the truth, the Word, a deep devotional life different from everyone you know? Do you not want to leave the superficiality of shallow experiences with GOD and continue swimming in deeper waters? Remember the text from Ezekiel 47? Do you just want water on your toes? Is it possible that deep down you are not dissatisfied, fed up with futile experiences and superficial teachings? I'm sure that within you there is a desire to go to the depths.
We can see that in the first century there was no need to teach how to develop spiritual disciplines, how to practice them. Where do you read in the Bible teaching this devotional discipline in detail? There isn't, do you know why? It's very simple to understand why. These disciplines were practiced all the time and were incorporated into every Christian. It was not necessary to develop any teaching on this subject. Today there are so many studies about fasting, prayer, having a devotional life and yet there are few who have a disciplined life in this sense, with GOD. For example, no one asked about fasting. What to eat before starting, what to eat during fasting, such as television, chocolate, drinking water or not, or about, and what if I feel dizzy during this period? Everyone knew the answers. Today there is so much study on this topic and no one comes to know the spiritual disciplinary truth. All because most people do not seek the depths through practice. From today be different. Have a devotional life that pleases GOD and also awakens in the people around you the same desire that is in you to become more attached to GOD.
We all have ups and downs, but we can't lose focus!
