Mind and Heart – Chapter 5 - Transformed Heart: The Key to Living GOD’s Purposes
To live GOD’s purposes, it is essential to undergo a profound transformation that begins in the heart. In the Bible, the heart symbolizes the center of our emotions, thoughts, and desires. When the heart is molded by GOD, our attitudes, choices, and even our future begin to reflect HIS perfect plan.
1. Why Does the Heart Need to Be Transformed?
Jeremiah 17:9 describes the natural state of the human heart: “The heart is more deceitful than anything else, and beyond cure; who can understand it?”
Without divine transformation, our hearts are inclined toward sin and the things of this world. This change is necessary to align our lives with GOD’s purposes.
2. How Does God Transform the Heart?
a) Through the Word of GOD
Hebrews 4:12 reminds us: “For the word of GOD is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword... it judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.”
Reading and meditating on the Bible reveals areas of our lives that need to be adjusted, guiding us on the right path.
b) Through the Action of the HOLY SPIRIT
Ezekiel 36:26-27 contains a powerful promise: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; I will remove your heart of stone and give you a heart of flesh.”
The HOLY SPIRIT works this transformation, replacing the hardness of the heart with a spirit that is sensitive to the voice of GOD.
c) Through Prayer and Submission
Transformation begins when we surrender completely to the LORD. Psalm 51:10 says, “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
Ask God daily to mold your heart according to His will.
3. The Results of a Transformed Heart
A transformed heart leads us to live fully and in alignment with God’s purposes. This manifests itself in several areas:
• Love for others: A transformed heart reflects the love of God.
• Obedience: We begin to desire to do the will of the FATHER, as taught in John 14:15.
• Spiritual fruits: Galatians 5:22-23 describes the fruit of the SPIRIT, such as peace, kindness, and self-control, which become evident in our lives.
4. Aligning the Heart with God’s Purpose
A transformed heart enables us to live out God’s calling. Romans 12:1-2 exhorts us to offer our lives as living sacrifices and not to be conformed to this world, but to be transformed by the renewing of our minds. This transformation enables us to discern and live out God’s plans.
Conclusion: A Heart That Reflects God
Transforming the heart is more than a superficial change; it is a deep and ongoing work of God in our lives. As we allow Him to mold us, we find joy and purpose in walking in His will.
