Peter and the response of a Church that interceded The power of prayer If there is intercession, there will be deliverance, there will be salvation Someone will get out of prison, they will get out of jail because a Church interceded. Peter knew the LORD JESUS. He was with HIM during His earthly ministry. In the Word we can find great stories. Great stories, wonderful stories of tremendous deliverances. But, we also see in the Word many moments of war and many themes we can find that will help us on our journey. Moments of peace and joy as well as tears. But today we will talk about the story of a man who was imprisoned. This man did not owe society for being a dangerous criminal, but in truth the world was not worthy of him. As well as the other disciples and us. The disciple Peter, student of JESUS CHRIST, lived great experiences with His Master. Let's see this man get out of prison. JESUS had already ascended to heaven. And because of the preaching of the Gospel, Peter was imprisoned. All because he wanted to see free lives. Free from sin, saved and freed and for that reason there he was captive, without freedom, simply for preaching freedom to the oppressed. Peter saw JESUS perform great miracles such as the multiplication of the loaves and fish. When JESUS found him and called him, he soon followed Him. He was one of the twelve and one of those closest to JESUS. He dared to ask JESUS to walk with HIM on the water and he even did. He was with JESUS at the time of the transfiguration, also in Gethsemane. He denied JESUS three times. But three times he told the LORD after the resurrection that he loved Him. He was able to live great experiences with His Master. In Acts 12 we can see that James, John's brother, was killed by Herod and Peter was arrested. Peter would only be judged after Easter. He was guarded by four squads of soldiers. There is power when people pray! Acts 12:5: Peter was kept in prison; but the church insistently prayed to GOD for him. The Church was mourning James, but did not stop praying for Peter. Acts 12:6,7: 6 Now when Herod was about to present him, that same night Peter was sleeping between two soldiers, chained with two chains, and the sentries in front of the door were guarding the prison. 7 And behold, an angel of the Lord came, and a light shone in the prison; and he, touching Peter's side, awoke him, saying, Get up quickly. And the chains fell from his hands. In the prison and very well guarded, guarded by strong soldiers and precisely in this scenario, an angel of GOD appears in that cell. Wake up Pedro and free him from those chains. What a tremendous thing! GOD heard the persistence of the Church's prayers and freed Peter. The angel tells Peter to put on his sandals, cover himself with his cloak and follow him. He leaves in obedience, but does not understand what is happening. He did not understand that what was being done by the angel was real, thinking it was a vision. Acts 12:10: After the first and second guard had passed by, they came to the iron gate, which leads into the city, which opened to them of itself; and having gone out, they passed a street, and immediately the angel departed from him. There ended the mission of that angelic being sent with a defined purpose, to free Peter from prison. For you who have not yet given your life to JESUS. You didn't receive Him as Savior, take advantage of the opportunity now. Are you someone enslaved in sin? Do you feel trapped? Today there is grace upon you at this very moment and if you so desire you can find freedom, meeting the SON of GOD and through HIM be taken to GOD and have your life completely changed. Acts 12:11: Then Peter came to himself and said, Now I truly know that the LORD sent his angel and delivered me from the hand of Herod and from all the expectations of the people of the Jews. Acts 12:12: After reflecting in this way, he went to the house of Mary, mother of John, whose surname is Marcos, where many people were gathered and praying. We can see that Miss Rôde goes to answer the door and when she hears Pedro's voice with so much joy, she doesn't open the door and goes to announce it to those in the house, but they didn't believe it at first. Church interceding, insisting on prayer, but when the answer arrives, it doesn't believe. How many times are we like this, interceding, but the fear is in our hearts, will we receive, a no, a yes, maybe a wait a little longer. And the worst part is that we are so stunned when the answer arrives that we haven't even opened the door for it. Let's think about this!
