Are you feeling helpless? THE LORD DOES NOT FORSAKE HIS PEOPLE! 1 Samuel tells us: “For the LORD will not forsake His people for His great name's sake; for it pleased the LORD to make you his people. And as for me, far be it from me that I sin against the LORD by failing to pray for you; but I will teach you the good and right way. Only fear the LORD, and serve him faithfully with all your heart; for see what great things he has done for you.” The people of Israel sinned by asking for a king. The LORD told Samuel when saddened by this request that in fact they had not rejected him, Samuel but God himself. Then the prophet Samuel cried out to GOD saying in verse 18 that although it was wheat harvest time and had rains it was unusual. However, there was a big storm and was thus considered a sign from GOD. In verses 13-18 we can see that Samuel warned the people that the king would only get them the desired deliverance if they feared the LORD and abandoned their rebellion against God. We see in v 22 that the Name of GOD represents his reputation and character. How tremendous is this NAME! When you have a difficulty, a situation that you have no one else to turn to, remember you have a Mighty Name, just cry out and the GREAT JEHOVAH will come to your help bringing great deliverance or great blessing that you need so much. In v 23 the prophet Samuel considered neglecting prayer a sin against the LORD. So let us take hold of this word: the NAME of the LORD and PRAYER! If we practice like this, we will only have great victories! LIVE WINNING!
